Abstract
Jigoro Kano developed Judo in 1882 from an ancient Japanese
martial art known as Jujitsu Later, Judo came to be the first
eastern martial art to be admitted into the Olympic Games.
Taekwondo followed a similar process of evolution into the
Olympics with Karate and Wusu coming up very fast for
promotion into the Olympics in the near future. The spirit of
cultural perpetuation and cultural perpetuation and cultural
identify through sports very well justifies this effort.
While other 0 lympic Games had their origins form other parts of
the world, it is high time that Africans consolidated their
efforts on their own traditional games for subsequent
development and inclusion into the 0 lympics. This paper offers
a few practical suggestions towards this invaluable social
cultural efforts.
