Abstract
This research investigated the influence of management capabilities on sustainability of projects founded by Catholic Relief Services in Isiolo County, Kenya. The research precise goals were to establish the influence of budget planning, stakeholder participation, resource allocation and management skills on sustainability of projects founded by Catholic Relief Services in Isiolo County, Kenya. This research utilized descriptive research design. The study target audience was 89 staff of 6 projects which were completed between 2014 to 2023 under Catholic Relief Services in Isiolo County. The research found that budget planning, stakeholder participation, resource allocation and management skills variable were ascertained to have a positive significant effect on the sustainability of projects founded by Catholic Relief Services in Isiolo County, Kenya. The study concluded that budget planning facilitated community engagement by involving local stakeholders in the budgeting process. The stakeholders, including community members, local leaders, and organizations, possessed valuable insights into the specific needs, challenges, and cultural contexts of the area. The study established that adequate funding is essential for the initiation and continuation of projects and proper financial allocation allows CRS to cover operational costs, pay staff, and invest in necessary materials and infrastructure. Secondly, the study established that effective management skills enable project leaders to develop clear, strategic plans that align with the long-term goals of CRS and the needs of the local community. The research recommended that organizations should engage with local communities, beneficiaries, and stakeholders to identify their needs and priorities. Organizations should conduct a comprehensive mapping of all stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners. Organizations should collaborate with local NGOs, government agencies, and community-based organizations to leverage resources and expertise. The organization should develop and implement training workshops focused on key management skills such as project planning, financial management, monitoring and evaluation, and stakeholder engagement.
