Abstract
Road infrastructure projects in Kenyan county governments are rarely completed within the timeframes. A large proportion of these projects are completed late, that is, two to five years later and some even end up stalled. For some projects, there is uncertainty as to whether they will be completed and this is attributable to the substandard work that compromises the quality of the projects, causing them to run behind schedule and leading to considerable cost overruns. The purpose of the current study was to investigate the influence of quality management on the performance of road infrastructure projects in Wajir county. The objectives of the study were to establish the influence of (benchmarking, quality auditing, quality training, inspection, and continuous improvement) on the performance of Road projects in Wajir county. The data collected was analyzed through both descriptive and inferential analysis. Results of the study were presented in tables and narratives. The study found a β of 0.431, t=3.186 which was also associated with a p-value of 0.002<0.05 between quality auditing and performance; a β of 0.176, t=1.164 which was also associated with a p-value of 0.248>0.05 between quality training and performance; a β of 0.408, t=3.597 which was also associated with a p-value of 0.001<0.05 between inspection and performance and a β of 0.406, t=2.818 which was also associated with a p-value of 0.006<0.05 between continuous improvement and performance.
