(The Strategic Journal of Business & Change Management, 2025-03) Mwangi, Samuel Waithira; Mutuku, Morrisson
This study investigated the participation and sustainability of poverty reduction initiatives in Taita Taveta County, focusing specifically on the level of community involvement at various stages of the projects conducted by VEO. This study examined the critical factors influencing project sustainability, with a particular focus on stakeholder engagement, capacity building, decision-making processes, and community feedback mechanisms. To guide the investigation, the study evaluated Treseder's Degree of Participation theory and Stakeholder theory. A correlational study design was employed to determine the degree of link between the identified variables. A sample population of 181 respondents was drawn from selected projects and external stakeholders in Taita Taveta County. The main instruments for data collection included interview guides and self-administered questionnaires. The findings revealed that active stakeholder involvement during the planning phase significantly enhances project outcomes and community satisfaction by fostering a sense of ownership and addressing local needs. Capacity building emerged as a pivotal determinant of sustainability, as targeted initiatives improved community skills and knowledge, directly contributing to project success. Conversely, decision-making processes displayed a complex relationship with sustainability, highlighting challenges in effectively engaging all stakeholders, particularly marginalized groups. Furthermore, effective community feedback mechanisms were identified as essential for promoting accountability and responsiveness, thereby strengthening project sustainability. The study recommends structured stakeholder engagement frameworks, tailored capacity-building programs, inclusive decision-making practices, and robust feedback systems to enhance project sustainability. Future research should focus on the long-term impacts of stakeholder engagement, the efficacy of capacity-building components, the dynamics of decision making frameworks, and the role of technology in community feedback, while also considering comparative studies across various contexts to identify best practices.

Effects of Communication on Sustainability of Road Construction Projects in Embu Government, Kenya
(IJSSHR, 2023-09) Gatambia, George Njoroge; Mutuku, Morrisson
The capability of a firm to carry out its objective or program well into the future is referred to as a project's sustainability. Improper enactment of projects is not necessarily a result of project management skills. Nevertheless, how a project is handled has a major impact on its realization. The problems faced throughout the use of project management competencies have included poor quality, money and schedule overruns, and inadequate project planning. The study investigated the effect of communication on sustainability of road construction projects in Embu Government, Kenya. This study used a descriptive research design. The entire number of ward representatives, county engineers, site engineers, road contractors, surveyors, and road construction technicians made the target population, which were 176. 20 ward representatives representing electoral wards where road projects were performed were thus included among the study's participants. It has 83 road construction technicians who have finished implementing road projects to bituminous standards, 25 county site engineers who are engaged on a permanent basis by the governments of Embu and Kenya, 13 road contractors and 20 surveyors. A population census was carried out because of the tiny population and the need to improve data accuracy in order to obtain accurate results. Questionnaires were used to gather the data, and both regression analysis and descriptive statistics were used to analyze it. The study found a strong and positive correlation between effective communication and the long-term viability of road construction projects. According to the study's findings, it is essential to keep lines of communication open, frequent, and accurate with all project staff members and stakeholders in order to ensure that capital expenditure projects are carried out successfully. The study recommends that throughout project implementation, project activities should be communicated to all parties involved, and county governments should set up the appropriate channels for message delivery and feedback in both top-down and bottom-up communication.

(International Journal of Social Science and Humanities Research, 2023-11-07) Kirimi, Justus Mwiti; Mutuku, Morrisson
The functioning of Kenya's public health system has long caused the country's citizens much anxiety. Health is a prerequisite for better social development, less poverty, and the accomplishment of the social pillar goal of Kenya Vision 2030. In Kenya, it is anticipated that a decentralized health system would increase service delivery efficiency, encourage innovation across the board, enhance access to and equality of available services, and encourage accountability and transparency in service provision. The Kenya Health Policy 2014- 2030 offers direction to the health sector in defining and describing the necessary actions in accomplishing the government's health objectives. The policy is in line with Kenya's Constitution and global responsibilities to health. As a comprehensive platform for managing the success of immunization programs, the inventory optimization systems in public hospitals enable managers at all levels to manage stock and keep an eye on the supply chain. Therefore, this study sought to investigate the effect of vendor-managed inventory on the performance of public health institutions in Nairobi City County Kenya. The study utilized descriptive research design. The study population consisted of 180 county staff consisting of the county pharmacist, sub county pharmacist, pharmacist in charge and hospital administrators. The respondents were picked using purposive sampling and simple random sampling. Primary data was gathered by utilization of questionnaires which were tested for reliability and validity. The study employed both descriptive and inferential statistics for analysis of quantitative data. Descriptive statistics consisted of mean, mode median and standard deviations. While inferential statistics consisted of regression and correlation analysis with the assistance of SPSS to analyse the data. The study found the vendor-managed inventory had a positive significant effect on the performance of public health institutions in Nairobi City County Kenya. The study concludes that vendor managed inventory goal is to reduce inventory-related costs for both parties. When suppliers manage inventory, stock is replenished only when necessary, which reduces overstock and costs for the retailer. The study recommends that the hospitals should openly share information with the vendor to build confidence that it is able to fulfill customer needs and every order that comes through.
