Item Impact of occupational stress on job performance among criminal investigation police officers: case of Nairobi county, Kenya(2014-08-13) Kangu, Timothy MumanyiIt is a well known fact that a job occupation causes stress on the personnel involved. The study will examine the impact of occupational stress on job performance among police officers under the Directorate of Criminal Investigation in Nairobi County. Despite extensive research on the general concept of occupational stress in many occupations, particularly in Kenya, little has been done about the problem in the police organization. Therefore, the expected outcome of the study will be to recommend to the DCI the appropriate interventions necessary to address the problem of occupational stress on job performance among police officers. The specific objectives will be; to find out the prevalence of occupational stress across the ranks, gender and years of service among police officers under the DCI in Nairobi County, to assess the effects of occupational stress on job performance among police officers under the DCI ill Nairobi county, to identify coping strategies for addressing occupational stress among police officers under the DCI in Nairobi County and lastly to find out what should be done to manage occupational stress among police officer. The study will be guided by the interactive theory to analyze the theoretical background of the problem explain the research findings. The study will use descriptive survey design to collect data from a population comprising 400 police officers under the DCI in Nairobi County. Stratified random sampling will be used to select the respondents from this population. Primary data will be collected using semistructured interviews and questionnaires while secondary data will be collected
