dc.description.abstractThe survey report first looks at the role and the functioning of an academic library with special reference to the Kenyatta University library. This is followed by a discussion of the organization of physics book resources under the three major library classification systems-the Dewey Decimal, the Universal Decimal, and the Library of Congress Classification system which is the one used at the Kenyatta University Library. The report then discusses the basic physics reference sources dictionaries, handbooks and manuals, encyclopedias and physical data sources and the bibliographic guides to physics literature such as in indexes, abstracts, etc. Physics literature periodical sources are highlighted and a listing of the physics periodical sources available in the Kenyatta university library given. A general model of literature search approach in the library is included as a topic on its own, although points relevant to literature search and access are included in various sections as appropriate.en_US
