dc.description.abstractA complete fleet management review will allow an organization to have a more effective and efficient fleet management program and "right size" fleet to ensure the right number and type of vehicles needed to successfully complete operations. The broad objective was to investigate factors affecting the effective management of motor vehicles fleet in Kenya wildlife service Mt Kenya region. The independent variables of this study as reflected in the objective included, management competence, driver's competence and experience, motor vehicles maintenance and workshop staff and their training. The population of study comprised of the management, drivers and mechanics of this region and since a census was not possible a sample of 20% will be preferred. Data was collected from both primary and secondary sources whereby questionnaires, personal interviews and observation was employed in primary data collection, while journals, past research, government reports and organisational reports were utilised in secondary data collection. Data analysis was done both quantitatively and qualitatively using descriptive research design and these data was analysed with the assistance of statistical package for social science (SPSS). The findings showed that all the variables under the study has an effect on the effective management of motor vehicles in the organisation. For the effectiveness to be realised, the management, drivers and mechanics have to work in harmony to realise this objective. There is need for training to be put in place for all cadres of staff on effective motor vehicles management in the organisation.en_US
