dc.description.abstractThe public procurement system in Kenya has undergone significant developments, evolving from a crude system with no regulations to an orderly legally regulated procurement system. The Public Procurement and Disposal Act is a form of regulation that was formulated by the Kenyan legislators in the verge of guiding procurement procedures and practices in the public offices in Kenya. The way the supply chain management officers are involved in public procurement of good and services at district level should ensure compliance with PPDA. This study investigated the factors affecting supply chain management compliance with PPDA of 2005 and Public Procurement and Disposal Regulations of 2006.Specifically, it analysed factors affecting SCM compliance with PPDA and PPDR at district level in the Machakos County. The study employed an exploratory design to investigate the research questions. The study participants were supply chain management heads in central government offices in Machakos County. Since there were only eight districts in Machakos County which translate to eight SCM heads, census study was conducted. Data was collected from respondents using personal interview method. The instrument used was structured questionnaires with open and closed questions. The data collected for the study was analysed using quantitative techniques. Likert scale and SPSS software were used to analyse data. Regression analysis was used to determine the cause effects relationship between dependent and independent variables. Tables, graphs and charts were used to present the data.en_US
