dc.description.abstract | Incorporating sustainable goals in projects is becoming an increasingly important driver of performance, although many projects have not embraced the strategic advantage this would have in realizing a sustainable future. The success or failure of a project is determined by its sustainability. In the past, the Government of Kenya has launched various funds and activities with the aim of leading the general empowerment of the young people. However, despite large monetary investment in Kenyan projects, poor sustainability deprives them of the expected returns. The study aimed at establishing project actualization drivers to the sustainability of government- funded youth revenue generation projects in Embakasi Central Constituency, Nairobi City County. It examined the relationship of the following variables to the sustainability of Youth Income generating projects in Embakasi Central Constituency; monitoring and evaluation, group leadership, training and project planning. The study employed a descriptive research approach. The target population consisted of 106 beneficiary youth groups, from which a sample was taken. The 106 youth groups were divided into stratas based on the income-generating activity they engage in, using a stratified random sampling technique. The sample size was 33 youth groups from different strata where simple random sampling approach was used in selecting each one of them. Primary data was acquired through the administration of questionnaires while secondary data was obtained through document analysis. Data analysis was done utilizing descriptive and inferential statistics and findings presented using tables. The inference from the model analysis was that monitoring and evaluation and project planning have the greatest contribution in the youth income generating projects’sustainability. The conclusion from the study was that ; monitoring and evaluation, leadership, training and project planning are key project actualization drivers that have an influence on the youth income generating projects’ sustainability. The study recommended for mentorship to the youth groups for sound plans development and widened scope of training for the youth groups to empower the youths in all sectors of a project including resource mobilization to ensure the projects are sustainable. | en_US |
