Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the use and organization of the chemical literature in Kenyatta University Library. It has looked at such issues as the users' knowledge, perception, rating and frequency of use of available chemical information sources at the library; the availability of literature guides and other access tools to chemical literature; the methods used for chemical information organization in the library; the problems experienced by users in the use of the chemical literature and Kenyatta University library in general; and how the users' knowledge, perception and rating of the chemical sources; its organization and the availability and knowledge of how to use access tools influence the use of the chemical literature.
Some of the things that this study has established are that most of the chemical sources are unknown to users, information organization (shelving) is poor and users rate the available chemical sources as both outdated and insufficient. These are some of the factors that have led to less use of the chemical sources in the library.
Chapter one states the problem and also discusses the significance of the study. Chapter two is on review of literature. Chapter three outlines the methodology used in the study. Chapter four is devoted to data presentation, analysis and discussion. Chapter five gives a summary of the findings and recommendations.
