dc.description.abstract | The performance of firms have always been a critical and important issue in market organization globally. Even though prior several research have showed information Systems has positively impacted productivity of business organizations, other theories are yet to be put in place or expound how Information systems affects the performance of various business undertaken by the institutions. The research study was aimed in ascertaining the impacts of Information Systems (IS) capabilities such as IS infrastructure, user skills, Application services and Management support on the performance of New KCC. The theories anchoring the study where; Technology Acceptance Model, Technology-Organization Environment, Information System success Model and Resource Based view. Descriptive design was used during the study. The research used a population target of 200 employees picked from various subsections: finance, logistics, human resource, crates section, sales and marketing, production, and ICT departments. The analysis used a technique of random stratified sampling in order to acquire a sample size of 60 questionees which was a representative of 30% of the population targeted. Questionnaire was used to collect primary data where the questions were both closed and open-ended questions, the drop-and-pick method was utilized. Descriptive statistics was employed in analyzing the collected data, the analysis was done using mean, percentages, frequencies and standard deviation. It also utilized the inferential statistics including the ANOVA, correlation coefficient and regression coefficient. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was also used in data analysis assistance. The presentation of results was done by use of tables. The study presumed that the information systems (IS) infrastructure allowed the firm's specialized information system applications to run on a platform that enables rapid sharing and transmission of data. Regarding user skills, it was established that computer-skilled employees improved productivity and problem-solving speed in the workplace. Application services were crucial tools for boosting organizational performance and expansion and management support improved performance in New KCC through constant training and motivation of employees on new trends in information technologies. The study recommended that Information Systems infrastructures were believed to be immensely important firms’ resource that ought to be utilized properly therefore requiring companies to be well resourced with operational workstations. User skills could be enhanced through training of employees on current technology skills required for effective problem solving. Business firms need to make sure that the IS embraced are suitable to the company necessity and also reliable connection of the internet for proper communication and information shareability. Also, management support was seen to be very fundamental since organizations require proper allocation of resources and necessary support from the management in Information System implementation and usage. An investigation can be carried out to determine the interconnection allying organizations culture and advocacy of ICT among state corporations in Kenya. | en_US |
