dc.description.abstractThis paper examines results of a preliminary study undertaken at Kenyatta University, 'f< into the practice of physical education and sports in primary and secondary schools in Kenya and Uganda. The paper focuses on to the physical education curriculum, resources , ~ and resource mobilization for physical education in sports, and the organization of sports programmes as common elements of the schools' educational programmes. The paper describes and compares the current common practices in physical education and sports ilf the two national education systems within Eastern Africa. Scientific reasons are sought 10 explain the differences-irt practice in terms of the varying social, educational, political and economic environments of Kenya and Ugandaen_US
