dc.description.abstract | Public transport is widely used for moving passengers within the country and has been widely critizised for safety and security by regulators. However, the sector has adopted information communication technologies to enhance security and safety as well as increasing its performance. Despite the huge investments by the transport SACCOs in ICT solutions, the performance of the public transport firms is dismal. This study assessed the influence of ICT capabilities on the performance of the 2NK SACCO society. The objectives that guided this study were, to; determine the effect of the cost of ICT facilities, vehicle tracking and security solutions, and ICT customer-centered services on the performance of 2NK SACCO. The dynamic Capabilities view, technology acceptance model, and resource based view were adopted as the theoretical framework. Descriptive research design was used; the population was 734 comprising 2NK administrative staff anddrivers. The stratified random sampling along with simple random sampling technique were used to derive a sample size of 106 respondents. A structured questionnaire as the main research instrument where data was analysed descriptively and using regression analysis. The findings were presented in charts and tables. The findings indicated that vehicle tracking and use of customer-centered ICT had a positive and significant effect on performance of 2NK SACCO but ICT facilities did not. The conclusion is that vehicle tracking systems and customer-centered ICT increase performance of 2NK SACCO. It is recommended that the 2NK SACCO should enhance more areas of ICT integration and utilize it to enhance its financial performance through increased use of the ICT facilities to improve their internal management of staff and vehicles. This could see an improvement in SACCO's financial position through reduced overhead costs. Secondly, 2NK SACCO should enhance their ICT-based customer relations. This could involve SACCO offering unique services to customers through an analyzed customer behavior. This could see an increase in repeat customer satisfaction and offering unique services based on customer history. | en_US |
