dc.description.abstract | Many enterprises including IT firms in Kenya face lack of data and voice services' adequacy hence facing competitiveness, quantity, quality and dependability. Strategic IT is seen as a critical aspect to solve these difficulties. The improvement of firm competitiveness does not always ensure that company performance is improved. The study's specific objectives were as follows; to determine the effect of system integration, system security, management support and data storage on performance of telecommunications firms in Nairobi City County. The study was guided by game theory, resource-based theory, system theory and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology. The target population was 250 staff of telecommunications firms in Nairobi City County, Kenya from different departments. The study employed a descriptive research methodology, with a sample size of 153 selected participants using a simple random selection procedure. Structured Questionnaires were the primary data collection instrument. The data was evaluated using descriptive and inferential analysis. The descriptive analysis included frequency tables and charts. Reliability, validity and diagnostics test was done together with ethical considerations. Under Inferential statistics, regression analysis was used to determine the relationship between ERP capabilities and performance of telecom firms. The study findings were presented in tables and charts. With implementation of ERP according to the findings, our firm is able to save on cost of operation hence improving the performance of our telecommunications firms, results revealed that ERP has helped the firms to cut on cost of salaries and cost of buying materials like files for data storage in order to save on operation cost therefore improving on performance. In finding if our modern ERP systems are unique compared to other ERP systems hence giving our firm the competitive advantage over others hence improving the performance of our telecommunications firms, results revealed that most firms have implemented modern ERP systems in order to have better outputs compared to others hence improving on their performance. | en_US |
