Project is effectively implemented if accomplished within time, within the budget and with excellence that satisfies customers’ expectations and needs. Most construction projects like housing, roads, parking slots and structural constructions like bridges have experienced cost and time overruns during the implementation process. In Elgeyo Marakwet, timely implementation of projects according to budget is considered a shortcoming and considered a major risk in implementation of construction projects. Completed projects in different regions encountered between (25%-75%) delay in original time and costs. Elgeyo Marakwet County registered poor projects implementation in terms of cost and time overruns by (25-75%) in all the government funded projects in the region even though over one hundred new construction projects are underway. It is important therefore, to ascertain the factors behind this common phenomenon in the context of Elgeyo Marakwet County. This study focused at investigating the influence of cost management on implementation of construction projects in Elgeyo Marakwet County and draw recommendations on management of the influencing factors. The overall objective of the study was to establish the influence of cost management on implementation of construction projects in Elgeyo Marakwet County. The specific objectives were to establish the influence of technical imprecisions, funding and regulatory policies costs on implementation of construction projects in Elgeyo Marakwet County. The study was grounded on technology acceptance model theory, agency cost theory, theory of constraints and project management theory . The study adopted a descriptive survey design and collection of data was conducted from a target population 100 construction projects. A sample size of 35 construction projects was used for data collection. A simple stratified random sampling technique was used, and data was primarily obtained through questionnaire and was constructed on a five level likert scale and closed ended questions that included prewritten possible responses from which the respondents chose their answers. The collected data was analyzed by means of descriptive and inferential analysis. Finally, information was organized and presented in percentages and tables. The overall findings showed that the predictor variables were statistically significant at different confidence levels where two predictors were observed to be statistically significant at P value of 0.05. The study found out a statistically substantial association among the two variables where cost management has a direct and indirect influence on the construction projects management. The study recommended that to overcome technical imprecision, funding for projects and regulatory policies risks, adequate plans, budgets and putting in place mechanisms to respond to any extra in adherence to the regulatory policies should be well premeditated. Further research is recommended on due to the limited research and evidence associated with legal, administrative and environmental protection and mitigation costs.en_US
