Abstract
Researchers examine the domain of open and distance education programme in Nigeria. The
introduction ofICT, usage and its integration and discussion have initiated a new age in
educational methodologies and have radically changed traditional methods of teaching and
learning. Patterns in the domain as well as offering contemporary learning experience to both
instructors and students. The discussions were made in terms of (a) the contexts of distance
education in Nigeria (b) the challenges facing ICT usage, integration and diffusion. The study
look at the high hopes and enthusiasm for open and distance education that are interfered with, as
the nation is faced with inadequacies in essential services and infrastructures: electricity, postal
and telecommunication services and so on. However, there is an ongoing traditional development
in distance education resources
