Abstract
Stress simply means being subjected to external force or pressures, and can be either positive or negative depending upon the effect of the external force. Stress will affect everybody who is living regardless of his stature but the level of stress will vary from one individual to another. The purpose of this study was to investigate factors affecting management of stress in the banking industry in Murang'a district. The study was guided by formulated objectives and research questions by the researcher. The study was carried out in banking industry in Murang'a district, central province of the Republic of Kenya. Given that there are seven banks in Murang'a District and all of them are concentrated within the town, it was appropriate to deal with all of them. The sample consisted of departmental Managers who were selected using purposive sampling. They were given questionnaires to fill in, based on the research questions. The study used descriptive design targeting all the banks in the district. Both primary and secondary data were used to collect data where structured and semi-structured questionnaires were used. Descriptive statistic was used to analyze data as well as statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) Computer Software package that enabled the researcher to use graphs, charts and tables. The study established factors affecting stress management in the banking industry in Murang'a District. Recommendations were made on the same.
