dc.description.abstractThe Government of Kenya abolished Exchange control regimes in the Kenyan economy by repealing of Exchange control ACT Cap 113 of Law of Kenya. Consequently, The Government introduced the Forex Bureaus business through the Kenya Gazette Legal Notice No. 23 of February 28, m 1996. Foreign Exchange Bureaus were introduced to deal with buying and selling of Foreign Currency notes and Travelers Cheques. The authority to license and regulate Forex Bureau is vested with Central Bank of Kenya. Although the Forex bureaus were introduced about Nine (9) years ago, there has not been any major development in line on Human Resource Training and Development Programs but the employees learn their work through on - the - Job training Foreign exchange dealing is a highly technical line requiring specialized training and there is need to carry out a study to establish the specific training needs and the course contents of the training modules that will equip the employees with relevant skills attitude and knowledge. This research sought to identify the currents status of manpower development in the Forex Bureau operating in Coast Province. Data was collected, analyzed and specific training needs identified and eventually relevant areas of skills deficiency were identified. The findings of this research would help in establishing the relevant training courses that would build capacity in the employees.en_US
