Abstract
The function of the university library is to support the university's mission of discovering, transmitting and preserving knowledge by providing access to information through such means, as; building, organizing, managing, housing and preserving collections, designing the appropriate technologies for retrieving and manipulating information, providing reference services and teaching users how to find, evaluate and use information independently for purpose of teaching, learning and research. However, University libraries throughout the world face serious shortcomings in areas of facilities, finance, Information Technology, services and staffing. This study sought to investigate the effects of inadequate information resources and services on Kenyatta University academic programmes namely, teaching, learning and research. To obtain the study sample, the researcher employed stratified random sampling technique. Questionnaire, interview frameworks and direct chapter one of the projects gives background to the study problem such as statement of the problem, objectives, justification of the study, assumption and limitations of the study. Chapter two reviews the related literature. Chapter three presents the methodology used in the study. Chapter four presents the data analysis, interpretation and presentation. Chapter five contains summary of findings, conclusions, recommendations and suggestions for further research.
