dc.description.abstractThis study was conducted to establish the application of competitive strategies used by multinational companies in the agrochemical industry in Kenya. With the increased competition among the agrochemical firms following liberalization of the Kenyan economy, the research based manufacturers have faced great challenges from cheap generic importers and distributors in the agrochemical industry. This study was seeking to examine and document various competitive strategies used by multinational agrochemical companies in Kenyan in order to compete in the market place .From the study findings, it has been established that multinational firms in the Agrochemical industry have been using differentiation strategy to gain competitive advantage and compete effectively in the Kenyan market. Currently there are only two (2) multinational agrochemicals firms operating in Kenya among the eight (8) leading multinational firms in the world according to the records from Agrochemical Association of Kenya (AAK). These are Syngenta East Africa and Bayer Crop science, therefore a census study was used to conduct the study .The data collection involved collection of information from the management staff of these Agrochemical companies. These included senior Marketing, sales, development and distribution managers .The data collected involved both primary and secondary data sources. Primary data was collected by use of questionnaires while secondary data was collected from documented materials such as books, journals and other research work done by other researchers on similar areas of study. The data collected was analysed by using descriptive statistics .Then the analysed data was presented and interpreted through charts and simple frequency tables .en_US
