Item A study of behaviour problems of adolescents in secondary schools in Kyeni Division of Embu District(2012-01-06) Nkoroi, Emily M.There have been rising cases of student unrest in many secondary schools in Kenya. The main purpose of the study was to find out behaviour problems manifested by adolescents in the secondary schools. The researcher further aimed at finding out whether the adolescent behaviour problems could be attributed to other causes rather than the process of maturation. The research also tried to find out teachers deal with the adolescent behaviour problems when they occurred, and finally on the basis of the findings tried to recommend possible ways of minimizing adolescent behaviour problems in secondary schools. The research was conducted in four secondary schools in Kyeni division of Embu district. The schools were purposively selected to include the various categories of the schools in the division (Girls boarding, boys boarding, mixed boarding, mixed day). It involved 157 subjects (145 adolescents, 4 Headteachers and 8 Teachers). Questionnaire schedules were used as the study instruments. There was questionnaire schedule for the students, one for the teachers and another for the Headteachers. The researcher personally administered and collected the questionnaires. Data collected was organized systematically using descriptive statistics and presented in tables and percentages. Recommendations were devised from the finding and conclusion in the study.
