Item The Digitization of Record Centres and the Effect of Records Use and Management: A Case of the Post-Modern Library at Kenyatta University Main Campus.(Kenyatta University, 2022) Kairu, Harrison Mburu; George Gitau NjorogeOver the years, digitization of libraries has advanced and this is a whole new concept to both the library users and the library staff. This study is based on the postmodern library in Kenyatta university. It is through this research study that we will get to know the views of the postmodern library users and staff on the digitization of the library resources. This study's objective was to describe the consequences of digitalization on the use, management, and utilization of electronic records, to Assess to what extent the post-modem library has been digitized, to identify the various e- records kept and maintained at the post-modem library and to determine the difficulties the postmodern library personnel encountered in managing the digitized records. Self-completion questionnaires made it easier to obtain data from the sample population for the qualitative research design, which was then. utilized to analyze the data. The findings revealed that the PML is greatly digitized as there is a website through which both the students and staff can access the digitized resources from. The study also showed that the major issues facing library staff when managing electronic resources are technical dependency and obsolescence. The study also demonstrated that due to the PML's policy of remote access, the digitization of records has boosted the use and consumption of the digital resources. The study's conclusions led to the following recommendations: library management should spend money on information infrastructure. This includes a proper internet connectivity to access the digitized information as well as the databases. The study also recommended the mobilization of users by developing well defined marketing policies for the digitized resources to increase the use and utilization. The study also recommended user training to equip the PML users with the necessary searching skills when accessing the digitized resources at the PML.
