Abstract
Between 2015 and 2019, the Inter-Ministerial Technical Committee on Deltas worked with Siaya and Busia County Governments to develop a Land Use Plan for the sustainable development of Yala Swamp. The Land Use Plan was informed by a Strategic Environmental Assessment. The resulting documents need to be adopted by the two county assemblies to facilitate implementation. The technical team presented the these documents to Siaya County Assembly members on 8th March 2021 and to Busia County Assembly members on 9th March 2021 in Siaya and Bisia, respectively. Now that the members of the two county assemblies understand the contents of the two documents, it is expected that they will adopt them once they are tabled in their respective legislative houses
