Abstract
Mammary Analogue Secretory Carcinoma (MASC) is a recently described tumour of the salivary gland, characterized by the t (12; 15) (p13; q25) translocation. We report a case from a 40 year old female who presented with a tumour in the right parotid gland at Social Service League, MP Shah Hospital in Kenya. Histological evaluation, immunohistochemical staining and fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) were done. The findings were consistent with mammary analogue secretory carcinoma of the salivary gland. It is important to distinguish this tumour from its morphological mimics. At the time of writing of this paper, we believed that this is the first case of mammary analogue secretory carcinoma described in Kenya.
