Abstract
Basically this was a needs and resources assessment study. The main purpose of the study was to
investigate the key counseling needs and resources of Secondary School teachers working in Kenya Schools. The study tried to find out the type of counseling concerns commonly experienced and whether there are significant differences in the types of these problems on the basis of sex, marital status, age, training, responsibility and working experience. A sub theme of the study was to make a case for teacher counseling in Kenya. A descriptive survey study was employed in this study. A sample size of ) 50 teachers from sampled schools in Thika district of Kenya was used. The main research instrument was a 70-item inventory of teachers' problems and concerns designed by the researcher. The scoring method was on Likter Scale (i.e ) -5). The data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics: including percentages and frequencies, using of T -test and ANOV A one way. The data collected was therefore coded and entered into a Computer for analysis through Special Package for Social Sciences (S.P.S.S.) The research findings are presented in form of frequencies and tables along with appropriate means and standard deviations.
