Abstract
Effective change in academic performance in education requires management strategies. However, change management managers face various challenges. Educational institutions and extension secondary schools that do not adopt effective change management strategies may experience poor results in education and disciplinary performance, adversely affecting students, parents, teachers, and the government. Therefore, the research investigates how change management strategies impact educational merit in government secondary schools in Nakuru County, Kenya. Specific objectives include examining the impact of communication on employee training strategy, strategic leadership, organizational culture, and academic performance. Resource-Based View Theory guided the study, John Cotter's Change Theory, Shine Organizational Culture Theory, and Human Capital Theory. The study adopted descriptive research design. The analysis unit consists of 21 public secondary schools and school principals and a board of managers in the Molo sub-county. The stratified sampling method is used in selecting, and the respondents' simple random sampling will be used— sample size 146 respondents comprising 13 school principals and 133 board administrators. Fundamental data is collected using questionnaires consisting of open and end questions. The pilot study consisted of 10 respondents from schools and did not participate in the final research to test how valid and reliable the data collection device was. Qualitative data from open-end queries are analyzed in the background and reported in narrative form per research variables. Analyzed quantitative data will be displayed in tables, charts, and graphs, using detailed average and standard deviation. Multiple correlations and regression analysis are included to examine the relationship between variables and inference statistics to see if they affect each other. For the independent variables, four variables (communication, culture, leadership and training) can explain 58% of merit in secondary public schools in Nakuru County. The researcher concluded that instructors acquire new techniques that keep their study hall and educational plan crisp, energizing, and exceptionally proficient through training. Further educators are instructed to urge the understudies to effectively participate in the exercises directed for their advantage and pose inquiries. Instructor preparing programs urge educators to discuss what makes great academic practice. The researcher concluded that positive school culture gives a moving climate to understudies and staff, which permits understudies' scholarly accomplishment to improve. When school culture is solid, instructors and understudies have a more noteworthy motivating force to take a stab at their most extreme potential. The research recommends that the school administration offer training to all stakeholders to keep their study hall and educational plan crisp, energizing and exceptionally proficient. This will urge the understudies to effectively participate in the exercises directed for their advantage and pose inquiries. The researcher recommends that the school head have a guide or a roadmap to improve understudy scholastic execution. The researcher recommends that the schools communicate the changes effectively. Also, decisions about change should be freely shared with all employees. The researcher recommends that student achievement should be communicated effectively to the parents, and the school management should give feedback on how students perform on time. The study proposes that similar research be conducted challenges in formulating and endorsing the strategic plans in schools in the Republic of Kenya
