The purpose of this study was to investigate the methods used by primary school head teachers in the collection of funds for school facilities in Eldoret municipal schools, and the problems related to these methods. The questionnaire methods were used for data collection together with a checklist. There were two types of questionnaires, one for the M.E.O and the other for the 25 head teachers. Data provided by the respondents indicated that the common methods used by the head teachers and the M.E.O were similar. The following are the methods thus mentioned; (a) IPTA, (b) Eldoret Municipal Council (c) Harambee (d) Donations, (e) Ministry of methods were P.T.A and the Municipal Council by 92 percentage popularity, as indicated by the head teachers. However the two sources were also indicated as the most difficult sources to collect funds from. This research also realized that there were some specific types of conceptual problems cited by the respondents. They stated that these problems have serious impact on the school facilities availability. Such problem were: (a) Clash of concepts of "free-education" and cost sharing. (b) The idea to urban dwellers that they can only collect funds for rural school projects. It can be concluded that there is an urgent need to educate parents/community on the clashing concepts and their responsibility in the provision of school facilities in "partnership" with the government.en_US
