Abstract
Community resources are essential in teaching and learning process. Our country
Kenya is encouraging young people to start their own businesses hence encouraging
most students to study business studies. Business studies being a living subject
requires learners to interact with the environment The subject also requires that
~arners to be aware of the current trends in the business world. This study is a
descriptive study which intends to analyse the use of community resources in teaching
business studies in secondary schools and what can be done to encourage use of
community resources in secondary schools. The study will use qualitative and
quantitative design to collect and analyse data. Data will be collected through
questionnaires and interview schedule from ten selected secondary schools in Ruiru
District. A representative sample of 200 participants will be drawn from the target
population using stratified, purposive and random sampling. Data collected from the
field will be coded and analysed using the statistical package of social sciences.
Quantitative data will be analysed using descriptive statistics while qualitative will be
analysed thematically. It will generate both descriptive and inferential statistics. Data
will be presented using both statically and graphical techniques.
