Abstract
The objective of the study was to determine those problems affecting implementation of the new Christian Religious Education Curriculum in Selected Lower Primary Schools in Nairobi. Specifically, the study was intended to examine those problems connected with Christian Religious Education (1980) Syllabus for Kenya Primary Schools; availability, quality and use of related Teachers Guides - One in Christ series, for Standards 1-4; teachers instructional methods and their professional methods and their professional commitment to the teaching of Christian Religious Education; effect of pre-service and in-service courses for teachers of Christian Religious Education; use of mother-tongue as a medium of instruction; and the teaching of programs of Pastoral Instruction. The study traces the historical development of Primary Christian Religious Education Curriculum and analyses some of the problems experienced by teachers of the subject in implementing it.
