    Strategic Management Practices and Performance of Milk Processing Firms in Nairobi City County, Kenya: Case of Brookside Dairy Limited

    Strategic management plays a critical role in organisations. Intense competition and other factors have necessitated applying strategic management practices in various industries. These practices focus on the factors that lead to the failure or success of different organizations. This study investigates the influence of strategic management practices and performance ofmilk processing firms in Nairobi City County, Kenya. The study employs descriptive research to collect and analyse data. This study utilises a census approach to collect data from all the respondents. Moreover, questionnaires were also utilised to gather from the respondents. The study ensured that informed consent, confidentiality, and anonymity were observed during data collection and processing. The correlation analysis findings showed that the Pearson coefficient was within the range of 0.5 and 0.8, and the correlation coefficient was 0.873, indicating that a strong and positive relationship existed between strategic management practices and the performance of milk processing firms. The findings showed that the adjusted R2 was 0.749, signifying that strategic management practices and prospects explained 74.9 % of the variations in the performance of milk processing firms. Notably, the major findings from the study indicate that strategic management practices significantly influence firm performance. Eachindependent variable in the study plays a role in the performance of firms in this industry. The study, therefore, concluded that environmental scanning, strategy formulation, strategy implementation, and strategy evaluation significantly influence milk processing firms' performance in Nairobi City Count

    In the era of globalization, firms around the world face intense competition from other organizations. This competition, coupled with other factors, has necessitated the application of strategic management practices to remain competitive. Strategic management practices focus on the factors that lead to the failure or success of different organizations. This study thus aimed to establish the outcomes of strategic management practices and performance of milk processing firms in Nairobi City County in the case of Brookside Dairy Limited. Specifically, the research aimed to establish the effect of environmental scanning, examine the effect of strategy formulation, explore the effect of strategy implementation and assess the effect of strategy evaluation on performance of milk processing firms in Nairobi City County: the case of Brookside Dairy Limited. The study was anchored on the Balanced Scorecard, Dynamic Capabilities, Resource-Based View Theory, and the McKinsey 7S Framework model. A descriptive research design model was utilized to gather data. The study used a census approach to collect data from all ninety-five top and middle managers at Brookside. The analysis employed primary data, and the tools utilised to collect data were questionnaires. The validity of the instrument was assessed using expert opinion, and the Cronbach alpha coefficient was utilized to determine the reliability of the data-collecting instrument. The effect of the independent factors on the dependent variable was assessed using a multiple regression analysis model which. The study ensured that informed consent, confidentiality and anonymity was observed in the data collection and processing. The correlation analysis findings showed that the Pearson coefficient was within the range of 0.5 and 0.8 and the correlation coefficient was 0.873 indicating that a strong and positive relationship existed between strategic management practices and performance of milk processing firms. The study therefore concluded that environmental scanning, strategy formulation; strategy implementation and strategy evaluation has significance influence on performance of milk processing firms in Nairobi City County. The study thus recommends that the firm’s strategists to put more emphasis on strategic management practices (environmental scanning, strategy formulation, strategy implementation and strategy evaluation) policies since they have a great influence on performance of milk processing firms.
