    Maudhui katika Nyimbo Zilizopendwa za Kiswahili: Mtazamo Linganishi wa Daudi Kabaka Na Kikundi cha Maroon Commandos

    The research intended to investigate themes in popular Swahili songs: A comperative approach of Daudi Kabaka and Maroon Commndos group. The songs were sang between the year 1960 and 1990. The research was guided by realism theory. The researcher went through recorded songs stored in round discs. Selected literary materials were also read for the purposes of getting data. The collected data was recorded and analysed guided by the research questions and objectives. The report was presented in five chapters. Chapter one includes the study topic, research questions, objectives of the study, justifications for the study, scope of the study, literature review and theoretical framework. The second chapter analyses themes in Daudi Kabaka and Maroon Commandos group songs. Chapter three examines how language use has aided in making the themes come out clearly. The fourth chapter examines the comparisons found between the works of the two artists. The fifth chapter includes summery, conclusion and recommendations for further research. This research will benefit other literary scholars and current artists to make their work better.
