Item Effect of Workforce Diversity on Performance of National Police Service in Nakuru County, Kenya(International Academic Journals, 2018) Kathimba, Ephantus Mbui; Anyieni, AbelPerformance of employees at work place is centered on appreciation, accommodation and rewarding of efforts they commitment to the growth of an organization. Workplace diversity is a type of conflict which occurs in various work stations. Researchers in this area of research have brought out some insight on the most demanding part of diversity in workplaces. According to past studies in workplace diversity, there is still much to be done to understand in depth the difference in outcomes within workplace. This type of diversity can be shaped by environments such as area of education, ethnic grounds, gender, in workplaces and issues that may arise as a result of shift to a new environment. Ability of an organization to embrace and manage diversity may have positive effects on organization performance and overall competitive advantage. Successive entities engage their handling of workplace diversity issues, develop and implement organization diversity plans. Organizations implementing a diverse workforce are able to realize a greater variety of solutions to challenges in service, allocation of organization resources and sourcing. Most workers from differing foundations acquire single encounters and gifts contributing thoughts that are adaptable in adjusting to client requests and fluctuating markets. The main objective of this study was to investigate the influence of workforce diversity on performance of National Police Service in Kenya. The specific objectives were to establish the influence of employee age, gender, ethnicity and education on the performance of the service in Kenya. The study was anchored on similarity/attraction, societal organization and agency theories. The study used a descriptive research design. The target population was all 438 NPS employees within Nakuru County. Due to the large number of the respondents, the researcher used stratified random sampling whereby the entire population was divided into groups and a sample 30% was selected from each stratum forming a sample of 132. The researcher used a questionnaire for data collection. Data was analyzed using inferential and descriptive statistics with the aid of SPSS. Graphs, tables and pie charts, frequencies and percentage were used to present the analyzed data. From the findings, ethnic diversity of the NPS work force significantly added up to performance p=0.002<0.05; gender distribution of the NPS work force was significant predictor of performance p=0.016<0.05; education diversity of the NPS work force was significant in affecting performance p=0.015<0.05 and that age diversity of the NPS work force had significant effect on performance p=0.034<0.05. The study concludes that ethnic diversity of the NPS Work force significantly added up to performance, gender distribution of the NPS work force was significant predictor of performance, education diversity of the NPS work force was significant in affecting performance and age diversity of the NPS work force had significant effect on performance. The study recommends that the National Police Service and other organizations in Kenya should promote diversity in their place of work by putting in place proper mechanisms to deal with discrimination which reduces work morale. All organizations in Kenya including the National Police Service should ensure that feminine gender is advantaged in equal terms as their male counter parts. This will enhance organizational performance. The hiring policy of all organizations in Kenya should factor in age since it improves creativity and innovation within an organization.Item Innovation Strategies on Performance of Public Hospitals in West Pokot County, Kenya(EPRA International Journal of Economics, Business and Management Studies (EBMS), 2025-03) Chemain, Flovia Chepkemoi; Anyieni, AbelThis research project examined how innovation strategies affect the performance of public hospitals in Kenya, specifically in the case of West Pokot County. Although quantifying the effects of innovation can be challenging due to the challenges in isolating and evaluating it, it has gotten a lot of attention. The ability to innovate is critical for every company that aspires to achieve and sustain a competitive edge in the market. Furthermore, healthcare companies are increasingly dependent on innovation in order to maintain their competitive edge and provide patients with fresh therapeutic options. There is a surprising lack of knowledge on the nature of innovation in healthcare and its connection to performance. Focusing on West Pokot County Public Hospitals, this study aimed to analyze the relationship between innovation strategies and performance within the healthcare setting, taking into consideration the unique characteristics of the healthcare industry. Specifically, this study aimed to: establish the effects of product innovation; organizational innovation, process innovation; and market innovation on such performance. A descriptive research design was used throughout this examination. A total of 145 participants drawn at random from three public hospitals made up the research's target responder pool, and the study's methodology was stratified random selection. As the major instrument for the research, open-ended and closed-ended questionnaires will be used to gather the necessary primary data. These questionnaires were sent to participants on an individual basis using the drop-and-pick approach. A study of the data was performed using descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis. Data were given in the form of charts and tables. The study results revealed that combined effect of product innovation strategy, organizational innovation strategy, process innovation and market innovation strategy significantly accounted for 65.5% variation in the performance of public hospitals in Kenya, specifically in the case of West Pokot County. The study concluded that innovation strategies have significant effect on the performance of public hospitals in Kenya, specifically in the case of West Pokot County. The study recommended that there's a need for the management of hospitals to improve communication channels to ensure clearer understanding of the sector's initiatives and their impact on innovation-driven competitiveness. Promoting patient-centric approaches is essential, therefore, public hospitals management should actively engage with patients to understand their needs and preferences, and tailor market innovation strategies accordinglyItem Merchandizing Practices and Sales Performance of Supermarkets in Nakuru County, Kenya(IJCAB Publishing Group, 2019) Mua, Lilian Ndinda; Anyieni, AbelIn Kenya, the challenges of sales performance are prevalent amongst the supermarkets. A declining sales performance was noted for Uchumi supermarket in its 2016 financial year leading to its poor financial performance. Nakumatt supermarket has also had poor sales performance in the recent years leading to its struggling financial position. Merchandizing is one of the aspects that can be utilized for the purposes of improving on sales performance. The purpose of the study is to determine the effect of merchandizing practices and sales performance of Supermarkets in Nakuru County, Kenya. The study seeks to examine the diverse aspects of merchandizing on sales performance and try to establish why the supermarkets are making losses and not profits on sales. The study specifically seek to determine the effect of customer attraction, product differentiation, product access and staff attributes on sales performance of Supermarkets in Nakuru town. This study used The Product Marketing Mix Theory, Customer Behaviour Theory and Impulse Buying Behaviour Theory. This study utilized descriptive research design to guide the study on data collection, analysis and presentation of findings. To obtain its data, the study will target the eight main supermarkets in Nakuru Town. The target population for the study was 590 staff comprising of management and supermarket line attendants. Nassiuma formula was used to determine the desired sample size for the study. A sample size of 86 respondents was selected. The study then use stratified sampling to select the supermarket line attendants into the study sample. This study used structured questionnaires to obtain its data from supermarket line attendants. Validity and reliability of research questionnaire was tested by conducting a pilot study. This study used Content validity to ascertain the validity of the research questionnaires. The study used Cronbach’s Alpha test of internal consistency to test the reliability of the study questionnaires. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22. This study used both descriptive and inferential statistics. The entire study used tables to present the findings. The study further concluded that there was a positive relationship between product differentiation aspects and sales performance of fast moving consumer goods in Nakuru town supermarkets. The item that had the highest mean score was that supermarket stocks products based on customer specification. It was also concluded that there was a positive relationship between product access and sales performance of fast moving consumer goods in Nakuru town supermarkets. The metric that had the highest mean score was that supermarket has presence of reliable product distribution channels throughout the year. In the context of staff attributes, the study concluded that there was a positive relationship between staff attributes and sales performance fast moving consumer goods in Nakuru town supermarkets. The statement that supermarket sales staff had sufficient knowledge on product specifications had the highest mean score. The study further concluded that merchandizing strategies, namely, customer attraction, product access, product differentiation and staff attributes significantly predicted the level of sales performance of fast moving consumer goods in Nakuru town supermarkets. Staff attributes had the highest influence on sales performance of fast moving consumer goods in Nakuru town supermarkets. The study will enable the top management of supermarkets in making decisions of merchandising. This study will also help academicians in this subject area as well future researcher for the study will add to the limited literature on merchandizing strategies and sales performance.Item Strategic Management Practices and Organizational Performance of Business Process Outsourcing Companies in Nairobi County, Kenya.(Journal of Economic, Accounting and Management, 2025-03) Ndiritu, Doris; Anyieni, AbelPurpose the study sought to assess the effect of strategic management practices on performance of Business Process Outsourcing entities based in Nairobi County, Kenya. This was motivated by decreasing performance and growth of BPOs, despite the growing demand of outsourced services by local and international corporates. Methodology this study utilized descriptive research design and it targeted 1257 employees drawn from the 118 business process outsourcing companies in Nairobi County. Using sampling formula, the study sampled 113 respondents. A questionnaire was utilized to obtain data, which was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results, The findings revealed that strategic leadership, strategic planning, resource mobilization, and strategic culture alignment although not effectively upheld by most of the surveyed BPOs were significant in stimulating the performance of the BPOs. Practical Implications for Economic Growth and Development, While it is evident that business process outsourcing is essential in steering growth and efficiency in other sectors, the BPOs have not been performing well, exposing the overall economy as their downfall would see loss of jobs and decline on government revenue. It is therefore essential for the managers of the BPOs to proactively integrate strategic management practices to adequately and rapidly respond to changes external environment thus steering their continued performance
