Item The use of continuous assessment in primary schools in Mogotio division ,Mogotio sub-county, Baringo county, Kenya(2014-08-13) Cheruiyot, Gladys; Libese, L.; Magoma, C.M.The purpose of this study is to evaluate the use of continuous assessment (CA) in primary schools in Mogotio division Mogotio sub_ county, Baringo county, Kenya The specific objectives ofthis study are: to find out the teachers' rationale and understanding for use of CA in their teaching, to identify types of continuous assessment used by teachers in their teaching, to find out challenges faced by the teachers in the use of CA in their teaching and to determine the strategies used by teachers to cope with the challenges they face in their use of CA. Descriptive design will be used because it enables the researcher to access the situation within the study area .It also enables the researcher to gather qualitative and quantitative data from a large number. The findings ofthe study will be of value to the government of Kenya. The policy makers will use the information to develop new policies and improve on the already existing ones. Learners will also understand that CA is not meant to victimize them. The researcher may experience some challenges such as non-response from the respondents. The target population of this study comprise 18 head teachers and all teachers teaching in upper primary in the 18 schools out of 36 schools. Simple random sampling technique will be used to select the schools. The researcher will seek an introductory letter from the Department before clearance from the Ministry of Education and then present the same to the District Education Officer who will write a letter to all head teachers of the targeted schools requesting them to assist the researcher. Data collection instruments will comprise interview guide for head teacher and questionnaires to the teachers. The data collected will be analyzed using statistical package for social science (SPSS)program findings will be presented and percentages
