Item Effects of Teacher's Attitude on Child’s Academic Performance: The Case of Hohoe Municipality(Royallite Global, 2019) Duhoe, Alberta Aseye AmaThis paper investigates the impact of educator's attitudes on the academic performance of children in basic schools in the Hohoe Municipality. Teacher's attitude, as estimated by the standard inventory in this research, involved seven particular components of an attitude (clarity, enthusiasm, interaction, organization, disclosure, speech, and rapport) while the academic performance of the children was estimated by their (student's) class score. By utilizing a stratified proportionate testing strategy, 300 students were chosen from structure basic institutions in Hohoe Municipality and a cross-sectional study was led to gauge the impact and to find the connection between factors. It has been established from information examination that instructors' attitude has a significant association with academic performance. Of these seven components, the research found five components (clarity, organization, disclosure, speech, and rapport) have a significant association with children's academic performance while two components (enthusiasm and organization) have no association with the dependent variable. Children have a significant difference in their academic performance while the only single component (speech) was found to reveal distinction based on their (student's) sexual orientationItem Human Rights, Activism and Civility in Reggae Music: Critical Analysis of Lucky Dube’s Selected Songs(Royallite Global, 2020) Duhoe, Alberta Aseye AmaHuman rights issues have occupied a greater space in the media and many social situations globally. Several human rights activists have played various roles which include, promoting the right for humans in and outside Africa through writing, symposia, conferences, music and so on. Music is said to be life and much of human entertainment revolves around music. Political movements often influence the desire for music thus informing artists to bridge the gap around pop and political activism. If music is paired with a politically heavy plot, it leans to the right or to the left. This affects the ability of the song to receive full recognition and consideration. A strong interrelationship between art, music, and culture characterizes the background of world politics. Sometimes music plays not only the function of cultural identity but does become a key element in communicating and defining the political institutions of the world. This paper examined the impact of Lucky Dube’s selected reggae songs in promoting civilization, activism and human right issues in the society. It critically analyses Lucky Dube’s role as an activist for human rights and how these selected songs are used to convey the message to the oppressed. This study used a humanistic approach theory, which involves evaluating the effect of messages conveyed by music on the primary audience. The drawing and interpretation of observations and sense which is not a quantitative impact evaluation was important in this context.Item Semantic Analysis of Silence in Conversational Discourse(Royallite Global, 2020) Duhoe, Alberta Aseye Ama; Giddi, EbenezerSilence in conversations semantically carries varied interpretations. Since silence is a component of discontinuity in speech, it arises relatively rarely in confrontational discourse that is distinguished by continuous speaking flow and rapid turn-taking. A good conversation should involve back-channel support from the receiver. In some instances, especially during conversations, be it interrogation, peer discussion or formal interaction, one party may relent in responding to an ongoing discussion. Once this happens, the speaker is demotivated to continue and many thoughts begin to run through the mind of the speaker. However, it is especially evident when it happens, and may signify either an expression of control or an absence of control. The work focuses on pauses and differences, analyzes their power roles encrypted in silence. The study adopted a desktop literature review method (desk study). This study further used a behavioral approach while researching and writing this essay, which would involve evaluating the meaning embedded in a silence by considering the environment and the situation at hand in that very moment. The drawing and interpretation of observations and sense which is not a quantitative impact evaluation, was important in this context.
