The objectives will be to; determine oral health practices among the PCPs who go to SPPS, establish contributions of health education curriculum (HEC) to oral health practices (ORP) among PCPs in SPPS, identify oral health (OH) challenges faced by PCPs who study HE in SPPS and to determine the HE strategies put in place by the SPPS to address the challenges PCPs face in oral health practices. The study will be guided by a theoretical framework adapted from Albert Bandura's (1978) Social Learning Theory (SLT) and a conceptual framework showing the relationship between oral health education, intervening factors and the oral health practices. Descriptive survey research design will be adopted. Target population will be 1165 people comprising of 940 PCPs, 40 class teachers, 177 parents and 8 caregivers drawn from 5 Special Public Primary Schools for Physically Challenged Pupils in Kisumu County, Kenya. Purposive Sampling technique will be used to select 177 pupils, 20 parents and 20 class teachers while Saturated Sampling will be used to select 7 caregivers for the study. Focus Group Discussions, questionnaire, interview schedule and a customised journal will be used to collect data. Validity of the instruments will be ascertained by experts in the area from the Department of Educational Foundations at Kenyatta University with validity index set at 0.7 and above. Pilot study will be carried out among 37 pupils, 4 parents, 4 class teachers and one caregiver who will not participate in the study using test-retest method and reliability coefficient index set at 0.7 or above. Quantitative data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency counts, percentages and means.
