The notion that children are being exploited and forced into labour, while not receiving education crucial to development concerns many people. The purpose of this study is to establish the effectiveness of the interventions for child labour among students in public day secondary schools in Embu East Sub-County. The study will be guided by the following specific objectives: to establish the status of child labour among students in Public day secondary schools in Embu East Sub-County, to establish the effectiveness of education reforms in Kenya as an intervention to child labour in secondary education, to find out the effect of the creation of awareness as an intervention of child labour among students in Public day secondary schools and to determine the effect of legal interventions on controlling child labour among students in Public day secondary schools in Embu East Sub-County. This study will be carried out in public public day secondary schools in Embu East Sub-County. Descriptive research design will be used for the study. The target population for the study will be public public day secondary schools in Embu East Sub-County. There are a total of 24 public mixed day public day secondary schools in Embu East Sub-County. The study will target form two and three students, parents, class teachers and deputy principals in the selected schools. A total of 20 schools will be sampled for the study. Simple random sampling technique will be used to sample the schools to be studied and the students while purposive sampling technique will be used to sample parents, class teachers, guidance and counseling teachers and deputy principals. A total of 360 respondents will be targeted by the study (constituting 240 students, 40 parents, 40 class teachers, 20 guidance and counseling teachers and 20 deputy principals). The researcher will target 2 parents, 12 students (6 form twos and 6 form threes) 2 class teachers (1 form two class teacher and 1 form three class teacher), 1 guidance and counseling teacher and the deputy principal from each of the selected schools for the study. Questionnaires and interview schedules will be used as instruments for data collection. Questionnaires will be used to collect data from students and teachers while the interview schedule will be used to collect data from the parents. Piloting will be carried out in two schools which will not be included in the actual study to test of the reliability and validity of the instruments. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) will be used to analyze the data. Descriptive statistics such as frequencies and percentages, means and standard deviations will be used to describe the data.
