This is an assertion that requires empirical justification in the Kenyan context through determining the effect of operating environment on sustainability of Youth Empowerment Projects. Hence this study examined the effect of the project operating environment on the sustainability of Youth Empowerment Projects in Makueni County, Kenya from a survey of 196 respondents. Descriptive and inferential analysis were carried out on data collected from 132 respondents, and the results of the analysis presented. The results showed that the effect of project operating environment on project sustainability was significantly. Therefore, according to the results of the analysis operating environment is an explanatory construct of project sustainability.
