Local construction firms contribute significantly towards realization of this goal. However they experience challenges in completing the projects within the budgeted cost, time schedule and attaining the desired quality. This paper sought to establish the effects of project monitoring and evaluation on performance of road projects. The study was carried out in the Lake Basin Region, Kenya. The study covered 41 road projects. The study concludes that project monitoring and evaluation has a significant effect on performance of road projects.
