Human resource information system consist of online recruitment information system,online training system,online appraisal system and payroll information system.Kenya Power and Lighting Company has recorded reduced performance for the years 2018, 2019 and 2020.The assumption of the practice of human resource information system is that individuals are the most important element in organization and performance largely depends on them. Therefore, if an appropriate range of human resource information system is developed, human resource information systems will make a substantial impact on performance.Organization performance can be measured by employee productivity and profitability.The aim of the study is to explain the significance of human resource information system on performance of KPLC in Mombasa county.General objective of the study was to establish effect of human resource information system on performance of KPLC in Mombasa county.The specific objective was to establish effect of online recruitment,online training,online appraisal system and payroll information system on performance.The theories that were used included Technological acceptance model,theory of reasoned action and theory of planned behavior.Technological acceptance model anchored the study. This shows that simplicity is important in determining which technology to use.Therefore,the use of online recruitment sytem,online training system,online appraisal and payroll information system is based on belief,attitude and intention of the user of the system. The research uses descriptive research design.The significance of descriptive research design is that it reduces data to be manageable. Descriptive research is an appropriate option when the research aim is to identify features and frequencies and between two or more variables.The target population consisted of (1205) employees of Kenya Power and Lighting Company,Mombasa branch. Stratified random sampling was used to pick a sample of 144 employees from the population.Stratified radom sampling was combined with simple sampling for the purpose of picking the final respondent objectively. Validity of the study was ensured by use of professional expert and also the supervisor who gave views on the questionnaire. Cronbach’s alpha was used to ensure reliability where scores below (0.7)indicated low reliability while that above (0.7)showed high reliability .Descriptive research design was applied to establish the effect of human resource information system on organization performance.This was presented using frequency tables, means and percentages. Inferential statistics including regression model was used. The regression model was used to show the relationship between human resource information system and performance of Kenya Power and Lighting Company.Regression model helps to predict a dependent variable value based on known value of independent variable.Primary data was collected using Likert scale questionnaires issued to employees.This consist of questions that are close ended with ordered response.Secondary data was obtained from financial statements and the website of KPLC.The findings indicated the independent variables ;online recruitment system,online training system,online appraisal system and payroll information system have a optimistic impact on performance.
