dc.description.abstractNongovernmental organizations, including food and agriculture organization have been experiencing a challenge in customer feedback, customer service and efficiency as a result of incomplete and poorly implemented projects. Poor performance of NGOs means many people will lack the provision of services which they enjoy from these nongovernmental organizations. This leads to the importance of ensuring continued good performance of NGOs. However, NGOs experience a number of common problems and dilemmas, which significantly influence their performance. These problems necessitate change in strategies which in turn necessitate management of the strategic change. Therefore, this study sought to examine the effect of strategic change management on performance of Food and Agriculture Organization in Somaliland. The specific objectives of the study were to assess effect of employee involvement, employee training, resource allocation and change leadership on performance of Food and Agriculture Organization in Somaliland. The study was anchored on resource based view theory, transformational leadership theory and Three-Step Change Theory. The research used descriptive research design. The target population comprised of 128 staff working in Economic and Social Policy, Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, Sustainable Development, Technical Cooperation, Administration and Finance, General Affairs and Information Departments at FAO in Somaliland. The researcher used primary data during this study, which was collected by use of questionnaires. A pilot study was conducted to examine the validity and reliability of the research instrument. Content validity was enhanced through consultation of experts in strategic management such as the university supervisor. In addition, Average Variance Explained was used to examine the construct validity of the research instrument. Reliability was tested using Cronbach’s alpha and the overall Cronbach’s alpha was 0.841. Thematic analysis was used in analysis of qualitative data and results were presented in prose form. Descriptive and inferential statistic was used to analyse quantitative data through the aid of statistical software known as SPSS version 22. Descriptive statistics involved computation of standard deviation, mean, frequency and percentage. Correlation and multiple regression analysis was used to determine the relationship between dependent and independent variables. The results were presented in figures (graphs and pie charts) and tables. The study found that employee involvement has a positive and significant influence on performance of food and agriculture organization in Somaliland. Further, the study found out that employee training has a positive and significant influence on performance of food and agriculture organization in Somaliland. The study also established that resource allocation has a positive and significant influence on performance of food and agriculture organization in Somaliland. In addition, the study revealed that change leadership has a positive and significant influence on performance of food and agriculture organization in Somaliland. The study therefore recommends that all levels of employees should be involved in decision making process so that they can give their views. Other recommendations were that the organization should come up with bonus pay programme aimed at motivating employees. Further the study recommended that the organization should establish suggestion boxes to enable employee pass complains and compliments. Further, the organization management should ensure timely allocation of resources to all departments so as to ensure the departments remain functioning.en_US
