Abstract
The purpose of the study was to investigate into the factors influencing the formulation of strategic plans in public secondary schools in Lower Yatta district. In this regard, the study will establish if; internal analysis, visions and missions, Growth needs and stakeholders support have an influence on the formulation of strategic plans in public secondary schools in the Lower Yatta district. The target population was; the teachers, Parents - Teachers Association and Board of Governors members in each of the twenty five schools in the district. As' such random sampling was conducted with a view of selecting the sample population. Other related studies done in line with this one, either locally or internationally, were used to provide the literature review that supported this study. The tool of data collection was questionnaires whereby both open-ended and closed-ended questions were administered. The researcher dropped the questionnaires to the respondents and allowed them two-day period to fill. Once the questionnaires were picked, they were studied, edited, data coded and related themes classified together and the analysis done by use of the SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences). This program helps in organizing data for the presentation of the same by use of tables, charts and graphs in a simplified manner, thus in depth understanding helpful to educational administrators and stakeholders fully realized.
