Education for sustainable development refers to an expanded, dynamic vision of education and development guided by the principles and values of respect for the environment, society and economy. The global knowledge economy is transforming the demands of the labour market. In addition, it is placing new demands on citizens, who need more skills and knowledge through a new model of education and training, a model of lifelong learning. Developing countries risk being further marginalized in a competitive global knowledge economy if their education and training systems are not fully equipping learners with the skills they need. The UNESCO Education Strategy 2014-2021 emphasizes that UNESCO is committed to promoting the adoption of ICT in education solutions which will facilitate knowledge dissemination, more effective learning, the development of more efficient education services, and the reconceptualization of teaching and learning processes. The organization is convinced that ICT-based solutions, if driven by pedagogy, can make a major contribution to basic education for marginalized groups by increasing access and quality, and by promoting the creation and sharing of good quality educational resources. This paper explores how Kenya is making an effort towards integrating ICT as a tool for teaching and learning.en_US
