This study seeks to investigate health conditions affecting academic achievement of learners with typel Osteogenesis Imperfecta at Joyl.and primary and secondary schools for the physically disabled in Kisumu East District, Kisumu County. The researcher chose these schools because they have large population of learners of different categories and therefore there is a possibility of getting learners with Osteogenesis Imperfecta. The teachers there have enough experience and rich information about learners with Osteogenesis Imperfecta. Pilot study will take place at Olkalau School for the physically disabled, at Nyandarua County. The study will adopt self-regulated learning and academic achievement theory. The study will adopt descriptive survey design because it will describe the state of affairs as it exists. The target population will be 2 head teachers, 20 non teaching staff, 150 teachers and 150 learners. The sample size will comprise 2 head teachers, 20 non teaching staff, 21 teachers and 21 learners. Purposive sampling will be used to sample teachers, non teaching staff and learners for the study. Simple random sampling will be used to select the number of respondents. Questionnaires will be used on teachers, learners and non teaching staff. Interview schedules will be used to obtain information from head teachers. An observation guide will be used to get information on school facilities. Validity of instruments will be ascertained by triangulating questionnaires, interview schedules, and observation guide and through consultation of supervisors. Reliability of research instruments will be measured by the use of test-retest technique. Descriptive statistics comprising of tables, histograms and pie charts will be used to analyze data.
