Effect of Strategic Change Management on the Performance of Airtel Kenya Limited
The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of strategic change management on the performance airtel Kenya Limited by measuring the effects of product reengineering, brand equity, and strategic alliances and technology adoption as key facets of strategic change management. The study literature review looked into the following theories Schein.s Extension of Lewin.s Change Model and Kotter.s Model where Comparison and critical analysis of change theories and models was made. Under empirical review the study the following areas were discussed Change Management Perspective, Causes of Change Management, The Process of Change, The Effects of Strategic Change on Performance and organization performance. The study thereafter constitutes a conceptual framework and Operationalization of variables as guided by the study objectives. The research design employed in this study was descriptive in nature. The descriptive design gave proper and succinct recommendations to the management of Airtel and other telecommunication firms. . The target population in the study was both management and non-management staff of the Airtel based at the Airtel Headquarters. The sampling frame for this study was a list of all employees of Airtel obtained from the senior manager at the Headquarters; the listed constitutes a total of 196 employees. The employees were categorized into senior level management, middle level management, supervisory staff and general staff. A sample size of 39 was selected from a total population of 19§ employees using 20% due to representativeness. This study used primary data collected through questionnaire. This method helped the study to collect enough information, which would otherwise been impossible using Interviews and observations Secondary data was collected from published materials. Quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and also factor analysis. Qualitative data on the other hand was analyzed using content analysis; this includes analyzing words or pictures by collecting data, recording people experiences not selecting and pre-chosen aspect. The data to be obtained in this study was analyzed by organizing them into similar themes and tallying the number of similar responses. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) aided the analysis.
