Alcohol-related physical injuries among alcohol abusers in Githunguri sub county, Kiambu county, Kenya
Alcohol abuse is a vice that affects many citizens in many countries across the globe. In Kenya, the problem is experienced across the country, with Kiambu County being one of the most affected places. Around 5.1% of the worldwide disease burden and injury, as well as 5.9% of all fatalities are linked with alcohol. Despite the problem of excessive alcohol consumption being attributed to many injuries and deaths, the international data on the burden is limited. The collected data will help in indicating the effect of alcohol on the Kiambu County residents. The current study thus purposes to establish the alcoholrelated physical injuries among alcohol abusers in Githunguri sub County, Kiambu County, Kenya. The study will be cross-sectional and will be done in Githunguri Sub County from October 2014 to December 2014. The population to be studied will involve alcohol abusers. In collecting the data, an alcohol audit will be used to check for eligibility after which a questionnaire will help in gathering of qualitative and quantitative data. After data is collected, it will be analyzed using SPSS. There will then be computation of the proportion for each injury. Bivariate and multivariate analysis will also be conducted to check the relationship between two or more study variables. The analyzed quantitative information will be presented in forms of tables, charts, and graphs. Conversely, qualitative information will be depicted in the discussion section. Thereafter, the results will be disseminated to various stakeholders including Githunguri Sub County and Kenyatta University.
