Variatio of Nouns and Verbs among the Initiated and Uninitiated Male and Female Speakers of Tugen

This study is based on the established fact that language is inherently variable. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between variation of words in Tugen with the variable of initiation and gender. The study seeks to investigate the speech of the initiated and the uninitiated male and female speakers of Tugen. The sample will be drawn from Kapkiamo village ofKelyo location, Baringo North District in Baringo County. The respondents will be selected using purposive sampling procedure. The study will be based on the Variationist theory by Labov (1972) and The Denotational Theory of Meaning.
